Many of us have heard about the Taj Mahal in India . And some may even know of its story – that it was built by the Mogul Emperor in honor of his favorite wife, the one true love of his life, who had died. What many of us don’t know is that the story doesn’t end there. This building was to be the most breathtaking, picturesque ever built, an eternal symbol of their great love.
Because of the magnitude of the project, it took several months to finish. When it was almost done, the emperor toured around to check that all was as it should be. As he made his rounds he stumbled over a dusty old wooden box that lay in the beautiful palace, he had it removed and tossed out. Little did he know that he had just tossed out the remains of his beloved spouse, for whom the Taj Mahal had been made. Photo credit by: joe_ruffles
