There was a rain of ice briefly in some places in Baguio City, Philippines, a tropical country. The ice was just the size of corn kernels. The hailstorm came after loud thunderstorm. A meteorologist said that because of the location of the city which is on a high altitude, it is affected by the formation of convective clouds which bring thunderstorm and hailstorm.
