Believed to be a rare specie and endemic to Tuguegarao, Cagayan, Philippines rainforest was discovered last May. The flower was named “Rafflesia leonardi” and was found to have no roots, stems or leaves. It takes 9 to 10 months for the flower to fully bloom and starts to wilt after seven days. The flower is 1.5 meters in diameter and thrives only in the rainforest of the province. It was discovered some 300 to 700 meters above sea level. However, among the world’s rafflesia, it is the only one with a diaphragm.
