Just the other day, I was listening with my Bluetooth headset to a male friend ranting about his life’s dilemmas. Every now and then, he’d interject his self-perceptions: “…and you know that I’m introspective person…” “I did that because I am a thinker.” Though I kept my opinions to myself, I wondered if he was convincing me or himself. I didn’t think he was any of those things, but because he seemed to like the way he described his personality, I let him be.
